Design Theory And Context
Project Brief : I find myself grappling with the myriad challenges that our world is currently confronting, particularly in terms of environmental issues such as global warming, pollution, and climate change. In light of these pressing concerns, my task becomes clear: to pinpoint and cultivate a specific habit that I, as an individual, can modify to actively contribute to the creation of a more eco-friendly environment. I am committed to identifying and devising a solution for one particular habit that holds the potential for widespread adoption, thereby fostering positive environmental change.
Ecological
Aspects
Environmental issues encompass a broad spectrum of challenges that impact the health of our planet and the well-being of its inhabitants. From the pervasive threat of climate change, characterized by rising temperatures and erratic weather patterns, to the alarming levels of pollution affecting air, water, and soil, the world faces a critical juncture in its ecological balance. Loss of biodiversity, deforestation, and depletion of natural resources further contribute to the intricate web of environmental concerns. These issues not only pose immediate dangers to ecosystems but also have far-reaching consequences for human societies, affecting everything from public health to food security. Urgent action and sustainable practices are imperative to address and mitigate these challenges, fostering a harmonious coexistence between humanity and the delicate balance of the natural world
Ecological Imperatives: Unveiling the Motivations Behind Issue Selection
A strong personal commitment to protecting wildlife welfare and the biodiversity of our world underpins the decision to prioritize animal conservation above hunting. My choice is a commitment to moral and sustainable cohabitation because I understand the delicate balance of ecosystems and the vital role that animals play in preserving that equilibrium. My goal in placing a high priority on animal conservation is to help safeguard threatened species, maintain natural ecosystems, and encourage conscientious management of our common home. Strong convictions about the inherent worth of all living things and our obligation to preserve the diversity of life on Earth for both the present and the future have motivated us to make this decision.
Interpretation of the Causes of Animal Overhunting
The realization of how vital it is to protect biodiversity and the planet's ecological equilibrium has led to a greater emphasis on animal conservation than hunting. This change is the result of an increased understanding of how hunting affects ecosystems and populations of animals that are vulnerable. Many species are seriously threatened by overhunting, which can result in population decreases, disturbances to food chains, and, in the worst situations, even the extinction of the species.
The drive to preserve the intrinsic value of wildlife, encourage sustainable coexistence, and guarantee the health of ecosystems is what is driving the trend towards animal conservation. It displays a heightened awareness of the interdependence of all living things and the significance of preserving a healthy relationship with the natural environment. By giving conservation activities top priority, we want to lessen the negative effects of overhunting, promote habitat protection, and improve the general health of animal species and the habitats they live in.
Conservation Strategies: Addressing Animal Overhunting with Existing Solutions
-
India has a number of laws and ordinances in place to conserve wildlife, including the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972(BYJUS, n.d.). The goal of these laws is to preserve and safeguard wildlife and its ecosystems. They also specify severe penalties for hunting without permission and poaching.
-
In order to preserve endangered species and stop overhunting, national parks, animal sanctuaries, and other protected areas must be established and properly managed. These are places where wildlife can live in safety.
-
Community-based conservation programs engage local communities in animal protection initiatives in some places. This can involve raising awareness, offering incentives to communities to save species and their habitats, and integrating them in sustainable management techniques.
-
Sustainable ecotourism methods can support wildlife conservation and give local populations financial advantages. This strategy places a focus on ethical travel that reduces adverse effects on the environment and wildlife.
-
In order to support wild populations and lessen the strain on natural habitats, endangered species can benefit from the establishment and upkeep of captive breeding programs. However, in order to prevent detrimental effects on genetic diversity, this strategy needs to be well maintained.

DESIGN BRIEF
-
Project Title: Protecting Wild Boars
-
Project Overview: More wild boars are killed in Kerala than any other animal. Since nature and wildlife are gifts from the planet, we have to protect its ecological aspects. Therefore, it is essential that people stop killing wild boars.
-
Objective:The primary objective is to raise awareness among the community about the critical importance of discontinuing the killing of wild boars.
-
Target Audience: My target audiences include both adults and children. In Kochi, located near a forest, I'm going to focus on the Manjummel area.
-
Key Message:Stop killing wild boars and protect them instead.
SUGGESTIVE MEDIA POSSIBLE
-
make fake trophy of a human face with horns and elephant tusks and antilope ears to compare animal and human treatment
-
collaborate with wildlife photographer and share pics making people understand the importance of animals being hunted and share with public
-
make a model which show human cruelty of killing animals/ wild boars (clay ) (fire extinguisher sizes)(16cm height X 9 cm width)
-
Give people in crowded area a postcard to give them information about the problem (using image)
-
Make a comic strip on the wild boar and its problems to grab the attention of young people.
(In order to avoid future generations from doing that) -
